The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night to take a 3-0 lead in the World Series.
Robert Gasser started the game and helped secure the win, extending Milwaukee's sweep of the series. The result places the Brewers one victory away from their first championship. The franchise has never won a World Series title, making this the first time a Milwaukee team has reached a decisive final game for the crown. The Rays also lack a title in their history, meaning the next winner will claim a historic first.
The path to the series began in the Wild Card round in late September. The Brewers beat the San Diego Padres in a three-game series, winning the final match 3-1 on October 7. In the Division Series, Milwaukee defeated the Padres again, taking the series 2-1. The team then swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Championship Series, winning four straight games between October 11 and October 14. The most recent win in that series came on October 14, with a 6-4 score.
The Rays advanced by beating the New York Yankees in the Division Series, winning three straight games in early October. They then defeated the Cleveland Guardians in the Championship Series, taking the series 4-2. The decisive game in that series occurred on October 19, where Tampa Bay won 7-3. Junior Caminero hit a home run in that final game, helping secure the American League pennant.
Game 4 of the World Series is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The game will be broadcast on Fox, Fox Deportes, and fubo. If the Rays win, Game 5 will take place on Wednesday, October 28, also at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, are set for Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, respectively, both at 8 p.m. Eastern time. The first two games of the series, played in Milwaukee, ended with scores of 3-2 and 5-4 in favor of the Brewers.
Neither team has ever captured a World Series title. The Brewers are attempting their first title since 1982, while the Rays are seeking their first since 2008. The outcome of Tuesday's game will determine if the series continues to Tampa Bay or concludes in Milwaukee.
